SUMMARY OF OUR TOURS
Our Mindfulness Tours are Self Guided* for bicyclists who currently practice mindfulness meditation and are interested in a vacation that can deepen this practice, although this is not mandatory. Each tour could be customized to fit your desires. The Dordogne and adjoining Le Lot Valley, are known for their prehistory sites going back 40,000+ years, medieval structures both religious and military and an amazing number of spiritual communities because the area seems to be friendly to diversity in thought and open to new ways of thinking. Also they offer some of the best cycling in the world on peaceful country roads where the bicycle and hiker are king! We recommend at least a week long stay at Plum Village, but a weekend is possible, to deepen your practice. These will not be a boring academic endeavor. Instead, it will stretch your mind, body and spirit and may be the best vacation you have ever had! * In September 2017 we are having a Guided "Founder's Tour", where I will be riding with the clients (Read More).
The tours begin in the prehistory capital of Europe, Les Eyzies, on the banks of the Vezere River referred to as "The Valley of Man" because of its many sites showing the development of our ancestors and their spiritual beginnings. All tours arrive at Plum Village on a Friday, the normal check in day. Plum Village is the home and practice center of Thich Nhat Hanh, the world renowned Buddhist Monk, Peace Activist and Master of Mindfulness Training.
The tours are Self Guided but baggage transfer and emergency support are included. Bicycle rentals of road or hybrid style are available. Each Itinerary can be easily customized to fit your needs. The starting day of the week for each Itinerary is designed to have you arrive at Plum Village on a Friday, the normal check in day. We recommend a minimum of a one week stay, which always includes a Sunday and Thursday Dharma Talk, or if at the Summer July Opening, there is a talk by Thich Nhat Hanh each day. A 3 night Week End stay is possible. For July, during the annual Summer Retreat, the stay at Plum Village must be 7 nights. The last night of each our tours is back at Les Eyzies, and on Friday you will take the train to St Foy Le Grande to meet the Monastics and be taken to Plum Village by van. It is possible to cycle to Plum Village instead of taking the train, a 72 km option. It is also possible to end your tour in Les Eyzies or Bergerac and not go to PV. A day or two extension can be added so you can cycle to the 4 PV Hamlets and explore if you want, without staying there, or exploring the Bergerac Wine region.
*The Plum Village portion of your tour must be booked by you separately, but we will help you with that booking. Our 2016/17 prices do not include the Plum Village portion. Current pricing for 3 nights is: 120 - 215 Euro and 1 week is 250 to 500 Euro per per person, depending on accommodation chosen from camping to dorm to private room. Again, we will help you navigate the booking process.
